Prof. Dr. Wilfried Attenberger
Power electronics, i.e. the conversion from one voltage level to another voltage level with high power, has occupied me as a physicist for many years. I am particularly interested in energy distribution with direct and alternating voltage. In the field of electricity grids, I am interested in distribution grids with decentralised generation and control.
I have extensive experience in the generation, control and switching of high voltage, particularly with semiconductor components. I am currently researching the control of the low-voltage grid and the underwater DC grid in a pressure-neutral design. Pressure-neutral design means that all components are protected from the water but are exposed to the ambient pressure (up to 600 bar/6000 metres water depth).
I am an enthusiastic university lecturer who sees research as an integral part, as it enables me to train students in current fields and maintain contact with industry.
