Study abroad

The Faculty of Applied Social Sciences cooperates with social sciences departments from universities in Europe and beyond. To see an overview of all international partner universities of the RheinMain University of Applied Sciences, visit the list sorted by countries and faculties.

The Land Hesse also has agreements with the states of Queensland in Australia and Wisconsin in the USA. For more information on the selection process, contact the International Office.

It is furthermore always possible to study at international universities with whom RheinMain University of Applied Sciences does not already have any contractual relationships. Internships abroad

You can also complete a study-related internship abroad. The range of internships offered is wide and varied. It is important to carefully read the examination regulations and module handbook to know the requirements that must be met before starting an internship.

The internship organization must be approved by the Faculty of Applied Social Sciences to get an internship semester abroad recognized by RheinMain University of Applied Sciences. For more details, please contact the Internship Office. The internship must be accompanied by courses at a foreign university that meet the examination regulations or online courses at the Faculty of Applied Social Sciences at the RheinMain University of Applied Sciences. Short-term and virtual stays

Are you interested in international experiences, but feel like you do not have enough time for it? Maybe short-term stays such as Summer and Winter Schools are a good option for you.

Some partner universities offer virtual courses as additional option. You can complete these courses online and balance these courses at a foreign university with your job, family or other private responsibilities. Financing

Students interested in studying and interning abroad can receive funding by programs such as Erasmus+, DAAD scholarships or financial aid (BAföG).

Students with special requirements –for example students who want to take their kids or have other impairments– can apply for additional funding.

Application

Once you made the decision to study abroad, prepare your application early on. You should start planning your exchange approximately one year before leaving. Arrange your course selection abroad with the international coordinators prior to your stay. Before applying for an internship abroad, we recommend making an appointment with the Internship Office. Students must generally apply via the Mobility Online platform of the International Office. Please note the application deadlines. Visit the International Office website to find the application deadlines and necessary documents for an application. Submit your application via Mobility Online platform.

After successfully applying for studies abroad, students will be asked to sign a Learning Agreement, or rather an Online Learning Agreement (OLA). Outgoing students of our faculty must note: When completing the OLA, enter the name of one of the two professors acting as international coordinators and the email international-sw[at]hs-rm.de in the box “Responsible at Receiving Institution”.

Credit approval

The approval of credits obtained abroad is guaranteed by the Learning Agreement.It defines the number and scope of modules and examinations attained abroad that will be transferred after your return. At the same time, it makes sure that the selected courses fit to the modules. The Learning Agreement must be signed before leaving.

We recommend reading the study regulations of our faculty before studying abroad and consult the international coordinators about your course selection abroad to avoid later transfer problems.
