What is it?

Insurance and Banking (B. Sc) is a degree program developed in close cooperation with the insurance, banking, and finance industries, which offers students a sector-oriented academic education with excellent career and development opportunities.

During your studies, you will acquire broad and integrated knowledge of the field of national as well as international financial services markets. In addition to a focus on the capital market, you will choose an area of specialization in insurance or banking. In particular, the focus option "Insurance" is unparalleled in Germany, thus creating a unique selling point for the degree program in the Rhine-Main area.

Contents

The degree program is based on general business administration training, which is supplemented by further insights into the functional and methodological features of business management in insurance, banking, and finance companies.

This fundamental knowledge of business administration is supplemented by modules in quantitative methods as well as elements of risk management and management in the fields of insurance, banking, and financial management. Teaching currently focuses on the digitization of financial service processes in particular.

In the fourth semester, you will choose to specialize in either “Insurance” or “Banking”.

The required elective subjects in the 5th semester and the courses offered by the Language Center and the Competence & Career Center enable you to acquire additional qualifications.

In the penultimate semester of your studies, an internship provides the opportunity to establish initial contacts with potential employers, which will be of great assistance as you enter the professional world after graduating.

Upon providing evidence that you have completed an internship, you will have the opportunity to spend the 5th semester as a semester abroad.

What can I do with it?

You will be well prepared to support the management in insurance companies, banks, and integrated financial services companies at various managerial levels and, after an appropriate induction period, to take on management responsibilities yourself.

Due to the high degree of relevance to the labor market, graduates of the degree program are met with a high level of demand from the insurance and banking industries, management consulting and auditing sectors as they embark upon their careers.
