Preparation program for future engineers

You would like to study engineering in Germany, but you have no German university entrance qualification certificate? No need to worry! PreStudyING@HSRM is your gateway to successful engineering studies at Hochschule RheinMain. 

In one or two semesters, we prepare you for an engineering degree program in terms of language and science skills. PreStudyING@HSRM is an attractive alternative to a German Studienkolleg. Application requirements 

  • Minimum age: 18 years 

  • Educational qualification acquired abroad that directly entitles you to pursue a degree program in STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) in the country in which the qualification was obtained.
      
  • For the two-semester preparation: Certificate of language proficiency at B1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
    ▸ Goethe-Zertifikat B1 (at least good)
    ▸ TestDaF (at least 3-3-3-3)
    ▸ telc Deutsch B1 – no other telc variant (overall result at least good)
    ▸ ÖSD-B1 (overall result at least good)
    ▸ onSET B1 from a licensed test center (8 texts)
     
  • For the one-semester preparation course: Certificate of language proficiency at B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
    ▸ Goethe-Zertifikat B2 (at least good)
    ▸ DSH-1 (at least 57% in the writing and reading comprehension sections of the exam)
    ▸ TestDaF (at least 3-3-4-4)
    ▸ telc Deutsch B2  – no other telc variant (overall result at least good)
    ▸ ÖSD-B2 (overall result at least good)
    ▸onSET B2 from a licensed test center (8 texts)
     
  • For the entrance exam without preparation course: Certificate of language proficiency at B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. To enroll in an engineering program, you will require a C1 level of German.

Course dates and exam deadlines 

> Courses start in the summer and winter semesters, each course level takes 6 months.

> The entrance examination for your degree program (without preparation) takes place twice a year, probably in November and May.

Registration: 

  • For preparation courses starting in the summer semester: September 1 to January 15
  • For preparation courses starting in the winter semester: March 1 to July 15
  • Entrance exam without preparation course: September 1 to October 15 and March 1 to April 13

Costs

  • Preparation program per semester: €1,425  
  • Plus the semester fee per semester: €350 
  • TestDaF examination fee (one-time fee): €210  
  • External entrance exam without preparation program (one-time fee): €250 

Application 

  • Valid official identification document  
  • Secondary school leaving certificate (= foreign educational qualification) and, if applicable, other relevant educational certificates in the original language version 
  • German translation of the secondary school leaving certificate – translated by a publicly appointed or sworn interpreter or translator
  • For the two-semester preparation program, proof of German language skills at B1 level
  • For the one-semester preparation program, proof of German language skills at B2 level 
  • For the entrance exam without preparation course, proof of German language skills at B2 level. To enroll in an engineering program, you will require a C1 level of German.
