GLOBAL DESIGN & MEDIA COSPACE
What is Global Design & Media CoSpace?
The Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) are supporting the internationalization of universities of applied sciences with 21 million euros as part of the HAW.International program. The central goals are to further strengthen the global competitiveness of this type of university through international cooperation in close collaboration with business and industry, and to prepare students for the international job market. 31 model projects were selected, including that of RheinMain University. During the project Global Design & Media CoSpace the degree programs Media: Conception & Production B.A. and Screen Arts M.A. (formerly Creative Media Conception) will be made more international. RheinMain University has received maximum funding and will coordinate all project partners.
What does Global Design & Media CoSpace aim to achieve?
Universities from Germany, Norway, Austria, Thailand, the Netherlands and the USA are planning joint courses, joint projects and seeking to increase mobility. This will include double degree programs and the development of inter-university courses in languages and intercultural communication.
Over the next four years, an even closer network is to be established with the selected partner universities.
The current partner universities are:
- Volda University College (Volda/Norway)
- FH University of Applied Sciences BFI Vienna (Vienna/Austria)
- National Institute of Development Administration NIDA (Bangkok/Thailand)
- University of Wisconsin-River Falls (River Falls/USA)
- Walailak University (Nakhon Si Thammarat/Thailand)
- The Hague University (The Hague/The Netherlands)
The project started in January 2021. So far, we have implemented the following:
Double-Degrees
- M.A. Double degree with ICO NIDA, Thailand Master of Management
- M.A. Double degree with Volda, Norway Master in Media Practice
- M.A. Double Degree with Walailak University, Thailand Master of Management
Travelling Classrooms
- Travelling Classrooms with UW - River Falls, America Stage and Screen Arts B.A.

June 2023: River Falls students to Creative Media Conception in Wiesbaden
In April 2021 ten students from Wiesbaden visited the University of Wisconsin-River Falls to visit the campus and work on a common projekt. In return, in April 2023 five students from Wisconsin visited Wiesbaden to work on three individual film projects with our CMC Master students. Through these Travelling Classrooms students can improve their language skills, and learn about the other country and it’s culture. Closing-Meeting & 5 international guest lectures 2024
As part of the project's closing meeting on-site in Wiesbaden, we are pleased to welcome our 6 international project partners to our campus. This provides our students with the unique opportunity to participate in a total of five different international guest lectures and courses.
