CHE Ranking 2022: two master's programs in engineering ranked top ten
In the 2022 master’s program ranking for Engineering by the Center for Higher Education (CHE), the two master's degree programs Product Development and Manufacturing and Automotive Engineering, Energy Technology & Production Planning at RheinMain University of Applied Sciences (HSRM) have ranked ninth place of all universities of applied sciences in Germany. The master’s students gave great scores for study organization and the use of digital teaching tools.
“As Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and as engineer, I am very pleased about ranking high in the CHE University Ranking. Supporting students by being well organized is very important to us. We also appreciate that our digital teaching tools scored well, since we have invested a lot to improve our digital infrastructure in recent semesters”, stated Prof. Dr. Christian Glockner, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering.
CHE University Ranking
With approximately 120,000 students surveyed, the CHE University Ranking is one of the most comprehensive and detailed comparisons of German universities, universities of applied sciences and cooperative universities. Besides factual indicators on studying, teaching and research in selected subjects, students assess the study conditions at their universities.
In the new comparison of master's degree programs, students were asked to rank up to eight criteria such as “Overall study situation”, “Courses offered” and “Study organization”. For the first time, master’s students assessed the use of digital teaching elements. At universities of applied sciences (HAW), the research funds of some areas are assessed by professor. In addition, universities as well as universities of applied sciences are rated with a factual indicator as to how intensely students are in contact with professional practice during the master’s program. The results of the factual indicators and study condition assessments are classified into a top, middle and bottom group.
