INTERNATIONAL GUEST RESEARCHER AT UNESCO CHAIR
International Guest Researcher at UNESCO Chair
Wiesbaden, 06.09.2024 - Dr. Didem Boyacıoğlu, an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Architecture and Design, Department of Architecture, Istanbul Özyeğin University, has joined the UNESCO Chair as a guest researcher for a one-year term starting from September 1st. Her research focuses on architectural conservation, particularly vernacular heritage in rural areas.
In the course of her time at the UNESCO Chair, Dr. Boyacıoğlu will work on a research project aimed at promoting sustainable cultural heritage management in rural regions. She will conduct field studies in various villages in the Rhein Valley, Germany, and compare these findings with case studies from the Şile villages near Istanbul, Türkiye. The objective of her research is to develop a model for the sustainable management of rural settlements in Türkiye.
The outcomes of her study will be shared through academic publications, as well as presentations to both academic and non-academic audiences, in collaboration with the researchers at the UNESCO Chair.
