ICLHE Symposium 2024

Thursday 10-Friday 11 October in Wiesbaden, Germany

INTEGRATING CONTENT AND LANGUAGE IN HIGHER EDUCATION SYMPOSIUM 2024

Join us on Thursday 10 & Friday 11 October 2024 at the Hochschule RheinMain University of Applied Sciences in Wiesbaden, Germany for a single-track symposium with on-site presentations and hybrid participation.

BRIDGING THE GAP: THE IDEAL AND THE REALITY OF TEACHING CONTENT THROUGH L2 IN HIGHER EDUCATION

Research in the field of teaching academic content in a second language investigates the teaching and learning processes involved, aiming to support practitioners by deepening our knowledge of these processes. The realities in the ICLHE classroom (Integrating Content and Language in Higher Education) vary depending on context, as does the level and type of support available. So how can we best support practitioners and help to bridge the gap between the ideal ICLHE classroom and the reality?

This two-day symposium will examine current research in ICLHE and address the challenges and opportunities faced by educators and learners in higher education contexts, with contributions from Constanze Bradlaw, TU Darmstadt, Emma Dafouz, Complutense University of Madrid, Eliot Mbolo Ebubu, University of Mons, Stefanie Nölle-Becker, TU Darmstadt, T.J. Ó Ceallaigh, University College Cork, Anja Schüppert, Center for Language and Cognition Groningen, Ute Smit, University of Vienna, Patrick Studer, Zurich University of Applied Sciences, Jenny Valke, Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Julie Walaszczyk, University of Mons, Robert Wilkinson, University of Maastricht and others.

Participants can expect engaging discussions, insightful presentations, and networking opportunities with experts in the field. Join us as we explore innovative approaches, share best practice, and address the complexities of teaching and learning in multilingual environments.
